In a world where people are ready to kill each other for a sip of water, a lone mercenary has learned to think of nothing but survival. And yet, there are those who need his help. A post-apocalyptic saga about the journey of a man who may be the one to save a shattered world.
She humiliates the base janitor with a pathetic 2% sync rating — never guessing he's the legendary ace she idolized, the hero the world buried four years ago. When kaiju tear her squadron apart, a black mech that answers to no one rises from the fog to save her. Someone powerful wanted the legend dead — and now he's back.
She humiliates the lowest pilot on base—a 3% mech-washer she calls dead weight—never knowing he's the war hero she idolized as a child, the ace the brass buried alive five years ago. When a kaiju tears her squad apart, the only one who'll come for her is the man she forced to his knees. And someone in command would rather let the base burn than see this legend rise again.
On a dying Texas army base, the skinny dishwasher everyone mocks lifts a two-hundred-pound pot with one finger and never says a word. When a scarred mercenary gives the base three days and a $240,000 price tag, the man they laughed at is the only thing standing between them and ruin. They should have asked who he really is.
They call him a mop, shove him around, and knock him flat on the field — and the skinny janitor just wipes the blood and keeps cleaning. But when a brutal enforcer kicks in the door demanding $175,000, the league's forgotten legend decides his silence is over.
They call her a mop and a mouse — a silent janitor who lifts with one finger the kettlebell a champion couldn't budge with two hands. When a brutal enforcer kicks in the doors and demands $240,000 in five days, the family that took her in has only one hope left, hidden in a bandaged fist. The legend everyone dismissed as a rumor is done staying quiet.
They call him the barracks janitor and the shame of a proud military dynasty — but he's the deadliest fighter of a banned program, hidden behind a mask he's worn for six years. The arena offers two million dollars, a captain's rank, and the hand of a woman who despises him. His own father sold his fight to the enemy, never guessing what happens when the loser finally stops pretending.
They mocked the skinny truck washer, dumped dirty water on him, and beat him on the mat — never guessing he lifts a 300-pound wheel with one finger. When a brutal mercenary storms the dying Montana camp to collect an impossible debt, the quiet man everyone laughed at finally raises his eyes. The legend they called a joke is about to answer.
A tiny junior stewardess scrubs the decks of a family charter yacht, swallowing every insult from the champion crew that mocks her as the "mop." But when a harbor racketeer storms aboard demanding $380,000 in four days, her silence starts to crack. Nobody knows this quiet girl is a vanished underground legend of raw strength.
They called him a monster and threw him in a river — now he's the most powerful mage alive, disguised as a beggar at the elven gates. He came to break off his arranged engagement to a proud princess and ascend to godhood. But a deadly curse is consuming her, and the one man who can save her is the one walking away.
On a dying desert army base, everyone kicks the skinny dishwasher and calls him trash — never guessing his bandaged fists once made him a legend they buried two years ago. When a scarred mercenary storms in demanding $180,000 and gives the base three days to surrender, the quietest man in the room finally looks up. Some ghosts don't stay dead.
They call him Mop, shove him aside, and beat him for fun — a skinny janitor who quietly cleans up after everyone in a crumbling family hotel. But when a brutal enforcer gives the family three days to pay $240,000 and comes to smash everything they love, the man with the broom finally looks up. Nobody in that room knows who they've been pushing around.
They call him the clan's worthless trash — no one suspects he's the reborn Demon King who broke a century-old seal. Now the Demon Queen herself is bound to his service, and his soul is the wager: one year to pass an impossible exam. Every insult brings his tormentors closer to learning exactly who they've been mocking.
